Tell us something about yourself:I have been married to Mal for 10 (mostly blissful) years. I have 3 high maintenance (slave labor) children: Marrissa, 24; Sarah, 23; and Adam, 20 and 1 diva granddaughter: Jordyn, 2.
What is your favorite quote?
"Shake it like a Polaroid picture!"
Can you give us five event planning tips?
-Keep it simple...too many details make your day more stressful. (WARNING: This is a hard one to stick to!)
-Delegate.
-Choose quality vendors. Remember, quality comes in all price points. In event surveys brides often regretted selecting vendors strictly on price.
-Decide your budget and priorities in advance. Spend more on your most important items (i.e. site, photos, etc.) and tone down or eliminate others (i.e. favors, menus, etc.)
-Enjoy every moment! I often see families spend so much time and money for their special day, and fail to be able to truly appreciate the experience. Having everyone you care about in one place, celebrating your new lives together is a time to cherish.
What is the latest wedding trend you have noticed?
Fairytale with a twist. Couples still favor traditional elegance, but are personalizing the details with themes, or other details that tell a story about who they are as a couple.
What is the number one reason to choose The Chateaux?
Gosh...there are so many...The Chateaux is a gorgeous facility...but what really sets us apart is our customer service! Our staff goes above and beyond your expectations to help put together and implement all of the details for your perfect day.

Tell us something about yourself:
I am an owner and co-founder of The Chateaux. I am very happily married to Ray, with one adult daughter, Corie, who has given me the opportunity to be the ultra hip grandma (Tutu) to two adorably cute grandsons: Makai, age 5 years, and Zian, 3 months. I am an avid outdoors gal, into sport fishing, mountain biking, hiking as well as a shop-a-holic, travel hound, and adventure lover. What is your favorite quote?
"When choosing between two evils, I always like to choose the one I haven't tried" - Mae West
Can you give us five event planning tips?
-Choose a day that is not on the weekend. Availability is greater and the fees are lower. Thursday evenings are very popular!
-Check the department stores after prom or homecoming to find great deals on bridesmaids dresses - or let the girls choose their own dress in a given color scheme.
-Simple elegance is the key. Less is more - enough said.
-Stick to your budget!! This is really tough, but you'll be very happy in the long run.
-Attend bridal shows so you get a good idea of what vendors you like without having to waste a lot of time making appointments and running all over town. This is an opportunity to see many vendors in one place, talk to them and see/try samples of what they do.
What is the latest wedding trend you have noticed?
Inclusive packages. Many facilities are offering them to help with the planning and stress level of the bride. Quality vendors are already chosen and the prices are already firm. Only a few decisions have to be made and all of the details are taken care of! This leaves the bride plenty of time to enjoy being engaged, plan the honeymoon, and personally prepare for the big day!

Can you give us five event planning tips?
-Use your personal style as a guide when choosing an overall theme for your wedding.
-If you are trying to stick to a budget, choose beer and wine and maybe a signature drink instead of a full liquor bar.
-Have fun! Don't let the stress of planning your wedding overtake the fact that you are marrying the one you love!
-Our inclusive packages are a really good choice. Not only does it simplify your life, but it is also more of a guarantee that your event will run smoothly.
-Consider seeing each other before the ceremony. Plan a special reveal in front of your photographer. This gives you close to an hour of extra time with your guests.
What is the latest wedding trend you have noticed?
-Instead of just picking solid colors as the scheme of your wedding, try introducing a graphic or floral print to accent the solid colors! Look for inspiration at a fabric store and use the print fabric as favor bags, table runners and where ever else your imagination takes you.-Saturday nights may still be the first choice for weddings but Friday and even Thursday nights are starting to be a lot more popular. Not only are those days more inexpensive, but out of town guests only have to take one day off of work, which they may have done anyway for a weekend event.

Can you give us five event planning tips?
Be unique and untraditional
-Choose a Thursday or Friday evening
Make it about the couple
-Pick a first dance song no one has heard, but that you love.
-If you don't like cake serve ice cream or pie.
Make a list of "must haves" and "can live withouts"
-This will help prioritize and will help you to cut costs
Keep it simple
-Adding more adds stress. Simple is classic and worry free.
Don't sweat the small stuff
-No wedding is perfect, your wedding's "flaws" make your wedding your own!
-Enjoy the fact that no one will have a wedding exactly like yours.
What is the latest wedding trend you have noticed?
I love the new "guest interaction" bars:
-Ice cream bar
-Willy Wonka bar
-Espresso bar
Give favors that represent you as a couple:
-Shot glasses
-Playing cards
-Coasters
